Video Save the Date

We're about to get our Save the Dates out - November(ish).  This is just a super sweet, super fun idea.  I love the music and the painting and how it ties back to when they first fell in love in college.  See the full post at The Wedding Chicks!

Hat 'n' Boots Ceremony

100 Layer Cake featured a wedding this week in one of my FAVORITE places in Seattle.  World's Largest Hat 'n' Boots in Oxbow Park.  It used to be a gas station off of Highway 99.  The hat (the store part of the gas station) and boots (the restrooms) have since been relocated to Oxbow Park.

I'm too paranoid to plan a wedding in Seattle outside (even in August - my friends got rained on just this year!) but the weather worked for this lucky couple and the pictures couldn't be dreamier.  They had their reception at the beautiful Georgetown Studios - Engine Room.  Those huge windows are to die for.  And their decorations and perfect.  Balloons make everything better!

Candy Drawer!

We used to have a candy drawer (yes, really) when I was growing up.  This fun idea brings new meaning to the candy drawer as I knew it.  I totally dig it!!  Goodbye jars, hello dresser drawers!

Wedding Planning: The 10 Wedding Rules You Can Break

There was a great feature from The Knot about Wedding Rules you can break - most of them pretty obvious but it's always a nice reminder that it really is ok.  Most importantly, the day should be about what YOU want, not what you're "supposed" to have or do.  Just have fun!

The rules that are meant to be broken:

Old School Rule #1: The bride's parents pay for the wedding.
Old School Rule #2: You must invite everyone with a guest.
Old School Rule #3: Your registry should consist entirely of housewares for your new home.
Old School Rule #4: You must wear a long, white gown.
Old School Rule #5: Your mom can't throw your shower.
Old School Rule #6: You have to have a rehearsal dinner.
Old School Rule #7: The first time you see your groom on your wedding day should be at your ceremony.
Old School Rule #8: Ceremony seating is based on a bride's side and groom's side.
Old School Rule #9: You must walk down the aisle.
Old School Rule #10: You have to leave for your honeymoon right after your reception.

On the beach

This beach setting is absolutely to die for.  It's simple and sophisticated and is EXACTLY why everyone should have a destination wedding.  The lantern lights, the candles, the white flowers and the chair covers blowing in the wind - Swoon!

DIY Table Finder

Here's a low maintenance, low cost way to get your guests to their table.  All you need are a few frames and some fun paper that matches your color scheme.  And it's pretty to look at, too!

What are these?

I'm probably just an idiot but I see these little pokey, comby, buttony things in A LOT of wedding pictures - used as name card or table number holders.  What are they?  Does anyone know?

Slice of Invite - Awesome Video Invite

These are the cutest invites ever.  I don't even think all of our guests have access to a computer so not sure how that would work but oh my goodness, they are cute.  And, I love that it defines the couple and the mood of what the wedding day will be!

DIY Cranes - lots of them

Look at this wedding backdrop.  It's breathtaking!  To add to the stunning story, the cranes are sentimental as the groom sent the bride cranes with secret messages inside throughout their relationship.  So sweet!

Heartfelt

We're working on Save the Dates and Invitations right now.  I love something simple like this.  It's simple in a good, fun way.  Right away, it tells your guests there's lots of love in the air!

More Linens

Maybe we forgo the napkin madness and get and/or make some fun table linens?  I really like these.

And seriously, if you haven't checked yet, you can buy linens on eBay for the same amount you can rent them.  The only catch is you're stuck with 20 (or however many) table linens to store and do what with?  I suppose you could re-sell them?  Or if you knew someone getting married gift them.  I wish I knew someone with 20 table linens to borrow!

And by the way, those giant flower centerpieces are A.dorable.

Napkin Obsession

My recent obsession is with napkins.  I honestly figured we'd have paper napkins to go with our paper plates and our very, very casual wedding (read dance party!).  But, look at how these napkins POP!  I love, love, love the look!

My first thought was, I can sew 200 napkins and it can't be that expensive.  Nevermind that I don't sew nor own a sewing machine - it will be fun!  Plus I have seven months.  In searching for fabric I found nothing I liked.  Nothing that fit this new obsessive bill.  Until I went to Stitches, in Capitol Hill, where they had tons of fun stuff and the lady was super, super sweet.  She even helped me determine napkin size, how much material I'd need and later helped me determine that after $1000 (for the super cute material - figures!) and all the time, time and more time it would take me -it's just not worth it.  $1000 for napkins is not in this girls budget!

Now, the boy and I are thinking about screen printing something...but we need a "theme" first.  Stay tuned!

Crate & Barrel - Wedding Party

The boy and I attempted to register this weekend.  Despite not needing a bunch of stuff, we did manage to find a cool registry party at Crate and Barrel.

They opened the store early and fed us mimosas and donut holes.  They also had samples all about the store showing off their nifty products.  Stuff like ice creams (yay!), espresso and panini makers/samples.  And, AND! we got a free gift!

Despite the cheesiness of it all, it was pretty nice.  We had the store to ourselves and a ton of really helpful employees wanting to assist us in any way possible.  The only people we had to dodge were other couples -who happened to be HILARIOUS to listen to.  We probably heard a little too much but it was quite entertaining.

I recommend!

Pretties

I have my dress - that I love.  I am kicking myself now because I'm not supposed to be looking at other dresses....it's not healthy and just makes me go crazy.  But these 2011 (and the 2010 for that matter!) Saja dresses are so so beautiful.  This is my favorite...dare I try it on?!!?

Let's Get it Started!

We've been engaged since February 2010 but our wedding isn't until April 2011.  That's A LOT of time to plan.  A lot.  So much time that it's October now and we haven't really done anything but book our venue, food and photographer.  But it's time to get going and I need a place to put all of our inspiration.

What's a better way than to share ideas with other brides - especially those in Seattle.

And what's a better way to get inspiration than to help Seattle brides at their weddings?  I want to help you because I know what it's like to plan a wedding.  Big budget or little budget, you want it to be a relfection of you and your significant other.  You want it to be special and fun and pretty much the wedding your friends and family can't stop talking about.  And I want to help make that happen!

So, let's get started!
